About Us

Bee inspection in Ventura, CA.
Enterprising Bee Company (EBC) was founded in early 2009 with a mission of working parallel with nature in providing an optimum environment for bees and their activities, and to consciously choose to do the right thing in every endeavor undertaken in regards to ethical and appropriate treatment for all honeybees collected from bee removal jobs.
EBC’s primary purpose is to provide quality honey for the public, as well as flexible pollination services that will specialize in smaller, independently owned farms as well as servicing larger farm industries. Colony removal and extraction is the cornerstone of this business.
Feral bees that are located in wild or urban structures are considered by many in the apiary industry to be more genetically diverse than stock bees, and thus are more likely to be resistant to mites, disease, and other pathogens. High priority is placed upon saving, preserving, and relocating these bees in the hopes of protecting these “survivor traits” that may, among other things, prove effective against the most recent ailment, Colony Collapse Disorder that has been responsible for decimating apiaries across the country, and which still eludes scientific classification.
The importance of bees cannot be overstated. Albert Einstein once said, “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination…no more men!” And, according to a study cited in the New York Times, honeybees annually pollinate more than $14 billion worth of seeds and crops in the U.S; mostly fruits, vegetables, and nuts. In fact, it is estimated that one third of the human food supply depends on insect pollination, most of which are accomplished by bees.
So it is the purpose of EBC to make every effort possible to remove feral bee colonies safely and humanely, without use of chemicals or harmful pesticides. The bees are relocated to apiaries in Ventura and Los Angeles county, where they are given a proper hive of their own, medicine if needed, food if they are relocated during a dearth (a period of absence of nectar from flowers), in an area where they will be pollinating surrounding nurseries, orchards, and both wild and urban foliage.
It is the sincerest hope of EBC that customers who contract our services understand that they are not merely removing a dangerous pest, but rather a greatly beneficial insect directly responsible for our well being.
